View full detailsWe cannot stress enough the importance of Children’s literature. Reading is an important aspect of every child’s life. Unfortunately for most tech-savvy children today, reading is limited to academics and educational books. We at Books2Door firmly believe that every child deserves access to books beyond just their academic curriculum. We want to ensure every child has the opportunity to enjoy great literature.
Fortunately, there is a wealth of children’s literature books available today for every age group. The list of popular children’s fiction books online and offline is rich with some brilliant titles and we believe every child deserves access to classic and contemporary children’s literature. Whilst there are several sub-genres when speaking of the types of children’s literature, children’s fiction we believe is the most popular; when trying to inculcate a love of reading in children.
Within children’s fiction, there is an extensive body of written works, written-accompanied by illustrations—produced to entertain and inform little readers. This genre encompasses everything; from picture books to classics like Alice in Wonderland, easy-to-read storybooks for young learners, fairy tales, fables, poetry, and more based on the child’s age group. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular children’s books that your kids cannot miss.
Some timeless children’s classics (fiction and true stories) that have enchanted generations and continue to remain hot favourites include; The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank, Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, A Bear called Paddington by Michael Bond, amongst several others. Children’s classics like these have accompanied several generations through their crucial teen years and growth journeys.
Enid Blyton’s adventures like The Secret Seven and The Famous Five on the other hand have kept children aged 6 + entertained and hooked for generations (since the 1940s to be precise). The suspense, the disguises, the suspects, friendships and outdoor adventures that unfold in Blyton’s classic children’s books and mystery novels have managed to get several young readers hooked on children’s fiction.
Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book is yet another popular Children’s book that has managed to stay etched into the hearts and minds of young readers through its most loveable characters—read, Mowgli, Baloo, and Bhageera. A tale of survival, friendships, and the triumph of good over evil; Jungle Book may have originally been written for children but the book has a major fan following amongst adults and has managed to bag several cinematic and live adaptations. Making it one of the most popular children’s storybooks ever.
The Diary of a Young Girl: by Anne Frank is arguably the most famous diary/memoir ever published. An account of a thirteen-year-old Jewish girl living under the Nazi regime; the book is a true story that has been discovered and rediscovered by several generations. This is a thought-provoking, moving insight into the world of a thirteen-year-old; surviving extraordinary conditions like hunger, the threat of being captured by the enemy, death, and worse (a life isolated from the real world). The book is a good read for children aged 14 and up.
It is known by all that reading has endless possibilities and benefits, it helps children develop essential reading skills and it helps adults develop important new skills which can be practically applied to day to day life. One of the key benefits of reading fiction books is that the talented authors of this genre have written detailed and creative storylines which introduce new concepts and circumstances that readers may not have thought about or experienced currently, these new suggestions could improve the social awareness of readers. Reading Fiction books can create empathy, you will have improved capacity to understand one another, and studies have suggested that reading Fiction can improve on the area of the brain which is responsible for understanding the world from new perspectives. A study has shown that reading is one of the most effective ways to beat stress, done by research at the University of Sussex.
Reading Fiction may also serve as a way or technique to improve relationships in real life. You may think of reading as like a reality simulator, by reading Fiction books and its various situations in different scenarios, not only is it fun and expected for readers but readers may learn from how to deal with life's’ certain relational scenarios. Whether these are close relationships with family and friends or challenging relationships with strangers and new people, fiction titles can help us in these areas. Reading story books and fiction titles can even help readers open their minds as well as accept inclusivity for all people. Reading fiction starting from a young age will help kids develop new perspectives, empathy and acceptance of all people and from different backgrounds. In this exciting collection of books, we have Isadora Moon Puts on a Show, Isadora is special and unique from everyone else because her father is a vampire and her mother is a fairy. It is time for the vampire ball, a time for all vampire childrens to perform their vampire skills however Isadora is concerned she is unable to show off her vampire side in this show!
