The Medusa Project is an exhilarating young adult series by Sophie McKenzie that follows a group of teens with extraordinary abilities. With six books in the series, The Medusa Project takes readers on a thrilling journey through a world of secrets, conspiracy, and high-stakes adventure.

The series centres around four teenagers: Nico, Dylan, Lexi, and Ketty. All four were genetically modified as children as part of a top-secret government program known as The Medusa Project. Each of them possesses a unique ability, such as mind reading, telekinesis, and the ability to turn invisible.

As the series unfolds, the teens must navigate the dangers of their abilities while uncovering the truth behind their pasts. They are aided by the enigmatic Dr Walsh, who serves as their mentor and guide. But as they uncover more about their origins, they realize that there are those who will stop at nothing to keep their abilities a secret.

The Medusa Project series is comprised of six books: The Medusa Project: The Set-Up, The Medusa Project: The Hostage, The Medusa Project: The Rescue, The Medusa Project: Hunted, The Medusa Project: Double-Cross, and The Medusa Project: Hit Squad.

What sets The Medusa Project apart from other young adult series is its emphasis on teamwork and friendship. The four main characters are all flawed, but they work together to overcome their weaknesses and protect each other. McKenzie does an excellent job of exploring the complex dynamics between the characters, making readers invested in their relationships and rooting for their success.

In addition to its well-developed characters, The Medusa Project also excels in its fast-paced action sequences. The books are filled with thrilling chases, daring escapes, and heart-pumping confrontations that keep readers on the edge of their seats.

But The Medusa Project is more than just a series of action-packed adventures. It also touches on themes of identity, family, and acceptance. The characters must confront their pasts and come to terms with who they are, all while dealing with the challenges of their extraordinary abilities.

Overall, The Medusa Project is a must-read for any fan of young adult fiction. Its engaging characters, high-stakes action, and complex themes make it a standout in the genre. Whether you're new to the world of young adult fiction or a seasoned reader, The Medusa Project is sure to captivate and thrill.

Description from the publisher:

The Set-Up

Fourteen years ago, scientist William Fox implanted four babies with the Medusa gene - a gene for psychic abilities. But Fox died, and the babies were hidden away for years. Now they're teenagers - and unaware that their psychic powers are about to kick in. Cocky, charismatic Nico thinks his emerging telekinetic abilities will bring him money, power and the girl of his dreams. He's about to find out just how wrong he is...

The Hostage

Fourteen years ago, four babies were implanted with the Medusa gene - a gene for psychic abilities. Now teenagers Nico, Ketty, Ed and Dylan have been brought together by government agents to create a secret crime-fighting force: The Medusa Project. Ketty's brother Lex has stumbled into a dangerous game involving his boss and a hidden bomb. It's up to Ketty to save him without letting on what she knows to the rest of the ream. But can she control her psychic visions, and her feelings for Nico, without getting the team's cover - and herself - blown sky high?

The Rescue

Fourteen years ago, four babies were implanted with the Medusa gene - a gene for psychic abilities. Now teenagers Nico, Ketty, Ed and Dylan have been brought together by government agents to create a secret crime-fighting force: The Medusa Project. Since the existence of the Medusa teens became known to members of the criminal underworld, they have been hidden away in a secluded training camp in Spain. Life in the camp is hard enough, but then things take a turn for the worse. Ed is blackmailed into using his mind-reading powers - and in doing so, he threatens to endanger the whole Medusa Project.

Hunted

Dylan, the daughter of the scientist who created the Medusa gene for psychic powers, has never felt she really fits into the crime-fighting Medusa Project. But then she makes a discovery about her father's death which changes everything. As she and the other Medusa teens search for the truth, Dylan meets Harry - a boy who seems to know more about Dylan's past than she does. But can Dylan trust him?

While Dylan searches for the mysterious legacy that her father has left her from beyond the grave, her dad's killer closes in. But just how far is the murderer prepared to go to keep Dylan from finding the truth...?

Double-Cross

Fourteen years ago, scientist William Fox implanted four babies with the Medusa gene - a gene for psychic abilities. Fox's experiment left a legacy: four teenagers - Nico, Ketty, Ed and Dylan - each with their own distinct and special skill. Initially, the four worked together as The Medusa Project - a secret, government-funded, crime-fighting force. But now their mentor has betrayed them, and they are on the run. As they travel, they discover the code for the Medusa gene may have been duplicated on the other side of the world. Could there be more Medusa teens out there?

Hit Squad

Fourteen years ago, scientist William Fox implanted four babies with the Medusa gene - a gene for psychic abilities. Fox's experiment left a legacy: four teenagers, each with their own distinct and special skill. These four teens were originally brought together to form a crime-fighting force, the Medusa Project.

Now the team is due to disband, and the teenagers are sent to separate locations. But Nico, Ketty, Ed and Dylan are determined to investigate claims that a drug conveying the same powers as the Medusa gene has been developed and are making plans of their own to prove it.

Joined by new friends Cal and Amy, who also have the gene, the four set off on their most dangerous mission yet...
