Theodor Seuss Geisel most commonly known as Dr. Seuss, was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1904. In his early career, Seuss worked in Advertising, and he often produced work which had his humorous characteristics and cartoon ideas. What many people do not realise is that there is a story to why Dr. Seuss to create one of his famous works - The Cat in the Hat. During the period prior to Dr. Seuss’s wonderful creation, he was at the time an author and illustrator and in this period there were repetitive ideas, story lines and character design that was both overused and monotonous. The characters involved were thought to be boring and not engaging enough which affected the children's interest to read and develop their language skills through books. Dr. Seuss was invited for dinner with a education department one day and was asked to create an exciting story that kids will be drawn to. The challenge was limiting the words to 200, Dr. Seuss completed this task with difficulty but pulled through with a timeless classic The Cat in the Hat in which he selected the first two rhyming words in his mind. With the success of its release in 1957, Dr. Seuss became a well known author and led to the beginning of a publishing house called Beginner Books which published books similar to that to The Cat in the Hat.
The revolutionary part of this book was that it completely differed from the conventional pattern of children stories during that era, and Seuss was proud of this. Dr. Seuss’s initial children's stories was published in 1937 but was rejected previously 27 times. After the success of The Cat in the Hat, he went on to produce the next classic piece Green Eggs and Ham which has the least amount of words of all his work but a best-selling title. Dr. Seuss was not just a successful author but he is also proficient in illustrations and the creation of fun and original characters which is shown across various art galleries. These creations also can be found not just in books, but other merchandise, movies, paintings, products, museums, theme parks!
