What began as a one-man operation selling secondhand books on eBay has grown into a thriving independent bookstore, connecting readers across the UK and internationally with books that spark curiosity, joy, and a lifelong love of reading.
A Personal Mission
Abdul’s commitment to this mission is deeply personal. Raised in one of Leicester’s most economically deprived areas, he understands firsthand the barriers between a child and the transformative power of books. As a father, a brown man with ADHD, and an advocate for literacy, he knows that stories do more than just entertain. He understood that books can shape identities, expand horizons, and open doors, but only if they are within reach.

Beyond Books2Door
Abdul is also the founder of Sweet Cherry Publishing, an award-winning children’s publisher dedicated to diverse and accessible storytelling. He also launched Save On Books to offer bulk discounts, ensuring even lower prices without compromising quality. By keeping all three businesses in his home city of Leicester, he is creating jobs, shaking up the publishing industry, and proving that the book world does not begin and end in London.
