Description:

Rory Stewart is one of Britain’s most distinctive voices on politics, history and national identity. This collection brings together three of his most acclaimed books, offering a thoughtful, deeply personal exploration of landscape, power and the modern British experience.

From the quiet borderlands of England and Scotland in The Marches, to the chaos of post-invasion Iraq in Occupational Hazards, and the turbulent realities of Westminster in Politics On the Edge, Stewart’s writing blends lived experience with sharp political insight. His work moves seamlessly between memoir, travel writing and history, revealing how personal journeys intersect with national stories.

In The Marches, Stewart and his father walk the ancient frontier between Scotland and England, uncovering forgotten places and reflecting on tradition, memory and belonging. Occupational Hazards offers an unflinching account of governance under pressure, drawing on Stewart’s time as a British diplomat during the rebuilding of Iraq. Politics On the Edge completes the picture with an honest, often darkly humorous reflection on life inside British politics.

Together, these books form a compelling portrait of contemporary Britain and the wider world. Ideal for readers interested in politics, history, travel writing and modern society, this Rory Stewart collection offers depth, intelligence and humanity β€” books that inform, challenge and stay with you long after the final page.
