Richard Osman is a British television presenter, producer, and writer; popular for his quick wit and sharp humour. In recent years, he has also made a name for himself in the world of literature thanks to his immensely popular novels.

Richard attended Trinity College, Cambridge along with Alexander Armstrong, studying Politics and Sociology. He then went on to work for Hat Trick Productions, before becoming creative director for TV production company Endemol. As well as being an executive producer on a number of hugely successful shows—including Deal or No Deal, 8 Out of Ten Cats, and Whose Line is it Anyway.

Richard Osman's debut novel, The Thursday Murder Club, was published in 2020 and there has been no looking back for Osman since. The book became an instant hit, topping the bestseller lists in the UK and beyond. Selling more than 45,000 copies in the first three days, it was the first debut novel to become Christmas number one! With his sharp wit, clever plotting, and relatable characters, Osman has quickly become one of the most beloved and celebrated British authors.

A deliciously humorous detective romp featuring a group of pensioners, turned amateur detectives, in a sleepy retirement village in Kent. The Thursday Murder Club follows the adventures of these unlikely detectives as they attempt to solve a murder case. The group meets every Thursday to discuss unsolved murder cases, but when a real murder occurs on their doorstep, they find themselves caught up in a real-life mystery. The group uses their unique skills and experiences to investigate the case and uncover a web of secrets and lies. The characters are charming, witty, and relatable. The mystery is cleverly crafted with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers guessing until the very end. As a result, The Thursday Murder Club became the fastest selling adult crime debut in recorded history. And that wasn’t all; Richard Osman book reviews have also been spectacular, winning critical acclaim from literary critics.

Following the success of The Thursday Murder Club, Osman then released a sequel, The Man Who Died Twice, in September 2021. This book sees the return of the beloved amateur detectives from the first novel as they once again find themselves caught up in a murder investigation. In this edition of the book set, the members of The Thursday Murder Club are once again embroiled in a case of intrigue and danger, this time involving an old friend of one of the club members. As they delve deeper into the mystery, they uncover a web of secrets and lies that threaten to upend their quiet retirement community. With Osman's trademark wit and humour, The Man Who Died Twice is a cleverly crafted page-turner that is sure to delight fans of the first novel and newcomers alike.

Richard Osman’s book 3; The Bullet that Missed, published in 2022, is the third instalment of the best-selling Thursday Murder Club book series to hit the bookshelves. In The Bullet that missed; Osman’s beloved ageing detectives return in yet another captivating crime thriller, that blends cosy mystery with fiction. It is an ordinary Thursday, and things should be returning to normal. Except trouble is never far away when the Thursday Murder Club is concerned. A local news legend is on the hunt for a sensational headline, and soon the gang are hot on the trail of two murders, ten years apart. To make matters worse, a new nemesis pays Elizabeth a visit, presenting her with a deadly mission: kill or be killed.

Osman’s novels are packed to the brim with thrill, suspense and crime. All these elements make the Osman books engaging reads that are hard to put down. While the mysteries and the suspense-build up appeal to a wide range of readers; the humour and the charming characters make the story accessible to those who may not typically enjoy thrillers. The retired detectives not only add humour to the story; they also bring a perspective and wisdom that is often missing from more traditional detective stories.

Whether you are a fan of mystery, crime novels or just looking for something light and enjoyable to read; Osman’s mysteries are for everyone.
