Poetry
Poetry can be a cathartic way to express your emotions and have a creative outlet. That’s why it is important to explore different genres of poetry and poets. An excellent anthology to start your poetry collection is The National Trusts’ Tiger, Tiger, Burning Bright! selected by Fiona Waters. This collection contains 366 poems for children, including works by Roger McGough, William Blake, Dick King-Smith, Ted Hughes, Grace Nichols, Lewis Carroll, Christina Rossetti, and Emily Dickinson. Another anthology produced by The National Trust is I Am the Seed That Grew, which contains 366 nature poems by Christina Rossetti, William Shakespeare, John Updike, William Wordsworth and many more.
Another beautiful poetry anthology is Poems to Live Your Life By by Chris Riddell. Riddell has selected his favourite classic and modern poems about life, death and everything in between. This gorgeously illustrated collection includes forty-six poems. This wonderful collection contains verses from William Shakespeare, Lewis Carroll, W. B. Yeats, and Christina Rossetti, alongside poems from Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Carol Ann Duffy, Neil Gaiman and Roger McGough, to name a few.

Plays
You can’t have a play section without Shakespeare! This iconic British playwright has produced some of the most famous plays of all time. From Macbeth to King Lear to Romeo and Juliet, we have a wide range of Shakespeare plays to choose from. These texts also have detailed annotations and an easy-to-read layout designed to be used by students.
We have a selection of plays that are popular on school and university syllabuses in order to make shopping for those essential books easier. With titles such as Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire or J B Priestley’s An Inspector Calls and Other Plays, there are so many to choose from.
For more contemporary plays, you can’t go wrong with the stunning adaptation of Patrick Ness’s A Monster Calls. This tragic masterpiece follows young Conor as his mother is fighting a battle with cancer. When one night, a mysterious creature appears at his window and is asking questions, telling Conor cryptic stories and demanding the one thing Conor is not prepared to discuss, the truth.
It would be amiss of us not to mention the global phenomenon that is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Since its first production in 2016, this two-part play has seen success on broadway, winning numerous awards and accolades.
