For as long as people have been on this earth to say them, stories have been told. Whether they were stories of knights battling dragons, the search for the fountain of youth or gods fighting each other, our fascination has continued to grow. There are a phenomenal amount of fairy tales, myths and legends throughout the world, meaning that there is always something new to read about them. Classic Fairy Tales 

There are many different fairy tales that have been past down to us since we were young children. Many of these classic stories originated from Hans Christian Anderson and The Brothers Grimm, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. These pioneers of modern storytelling paved the way for a vast amount of writers, artists and musicians. Mythology books 

There are so many different mythologies out there it can be hard to know where to start! Here at Books2Door, we have a great selection of mythologies from across the globe for you to look through. Starting with the UK is Arthurian Mythology. The main story originates from Welsh mythology about a great warrior defending Britain from human and supernatural enemies. Turning to our Scandinavian neighbours for our next exploration of different cultures' mythology. Norse mythology features some of the craziest and creepiest stories, creatures and lands. Many Hollywood films have taken inspiration from Nordic mythology, including, Midsommar, The Ritual and The Northman. Not to mention the comic book retelling of the Gods Thor and Loki in Marvel. Once you dive into Norse mythology, it is easy to see why so many writers have taken inspiration from it. For a great retelling of Norse Mythology, focusing on Ragnarok and the antics of Loki, the God of Mischief, check out Neil Gaiman’s Norse Mythology. For a beautiful collection of illustrated Norse myths and legends, check out Norse Myths by Matt Ralphs. 

Another famous collection of mythology is Egyptian. Originating from Ancient Egypt, these stories describe the actions of Gods, the order of the Universe (Maat) and various frightening creatures. Ancient Egyptian mythology largely influenced modern-day Egyptian culture, with scenes and symbols from myth appearing in art in tombs, temples, and amulets.
