CBeebies Bedtime Stories series

CBeebies bedtime hour starts daily at 5:45 pm, with the CBeebies Bedtime Stories segment showing at 6:50 pm. Join a whole host of celebrities for different stories to read along to each night before bedtime. 

You may recognise lots of famous faces that join in on your evening routine to read to your little ones before they go to sleep. From Tom Hardy to Rowan Atkinson to Harry styles- even Jessica Ennis-Hill! In this collection, we’ve mentioned some of our favourites that you can read along to, helping your little ones discover their next favourite story and even practise gaining their reading independence. 

One of our personal favourite bedtime books is the Don’t worry, Little Crab book by Chris Haughton. Read by award-winning English actor Tom Hardy, this board book aimed at children aged 0-5 contains colourful illustrations integrated with a heart-warming story of taking the time to overcome your fears and building up the courage to try something new with a support of a loved one. The winner of the Indie Book Award 2020, this book follows the story of Very Big Crab and Little Crab living in the rockpool above the sea. If you loved this book, check out the Oh No, George! Collection by Chris Haughton 5 Book Series. This five-book collection contains more heartfelt and encouraging stories such as A Bit Lost, Oh No, George!, Shh! Another great read is I Talk Like a River by Jordan Scott. Read by Engish singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, this book is perfect for children aged 7-9. The book is a powerfully moving and personal story of a boy’s struggle with a stammer. What if words got stuck in the back of your mouth whenever you tried to speak? After a day of being unable to speak, a boy and his father spend some quiet time near the river. Despite everything, the boy can’t stop thinking about all the eyes watching his lips twisting and twirling. That is until his father points to the river bubbling and churning, crashing and whirling. Even the river stutters. Just like him. This incredibly moving picture book masterfully offers solace and understanding rather than a solution to resonate with readers young and old.
