Francesca spent a lot of time reading to her son Joshua which pushed her to write story books for children which were inspired by real life scenarios. The infamous character Horrid Henry had become hugely popular and had spread around the world, published in 27 languages and sold millions of copies, even in 2008, the Horrid Henry and the Abominable Snowman had won the Children’s Book of the Year Award.

Horrid Henry is one of the most recognisable characters in the country. Curious readers will be captured from the very first book as they follow Henry on plenty of fun-filled challenges and expeditions that engage the audience, but these stories cleverly cover emotions too. They’ll meet his younger sibling Simon, where plenty of sibling squabbles occur as well as Henry’s circle of friends and his adventures at school. Understanding the daily scenarios of children in this age group, the Horrid Henry 24 book collection offers children with a selection of books that they’ll be able to relate to as they get stuck in.

Reading in the comfort of your own home is a brilliant way to support children’s learning in addition to what they read at school. Slotting in only 10 minutes a day can help to boost their confidence in becoming independent readers, whether this is out loud or to themselves. Kids books such as the Horrid Henry set are known for holding the interest of children, making them a great choice for reluctant readers too. These popular stories contain hideous behaviour, supreme naughtiness met with laugh out loud humour and jokes, all to be taken with a pinch of salt. Above all, they are imaginative, fun, and surprisingly realistic at times which makes children want to carry on reading as they work their way through the impressive 24 books.
