Description:

The Castle
The Castle by Franz Kafka, published after his death, is an enigmatic tale where among other themes, he explores the relation between power and the individual.

The setting is a remote village, covered in snow almost perennially, dominated by a castle that is inaccessible and occupied by dictatorial, self-serving bureaucrats The story follows a land surveyor, K., through his baffling struggle in contacting his employer, and the consequent encounters in a village whose inhabitants readily submit to an authority that may only exist in their collective imagination.

The Trial
The Trial by Franz Kafka is a work of psychological terror that hints of the totalitarian excesses of the 20th century.

The story follows the sudden and "unexpected arrest, of a bank clerk, Josef K., by mysterious agents from an unspecified agency, for an unknown crime Though released, Josef's life is tormented by nightmarish legal and bureaucratic procedures, from which he attempts to find release.

Kafka focuses on the powerlessness of man in the face of state power and .Josef's excruciating but inevitable downward spiral.

The Metamorphosis
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, one of his most celebrated works delves into the absurdity and challenges of modern life.

Gregor Samsa wakes up one morning to find himself transformed into a giant insect. So begins the tale of a surreal experience in which Gregor struggles to adapt his humanity to the change.

The book deals with alienation, disillusionment and existentialism as well as the feelings of inadequacy, isolation and guilt.

Letters to Milena
Letters to Milena is a glimpse into Franz Kafka's most intimate self-his desires, his love and his anxieties.

This passionate correspondence between Kafka and his muse e his Czech translator Milena Jesenská, a gifted and remarkable young lady, makes for interesting reading, and allows a close peek into the great author himself.

A Hunger Artist and Other Short Stories
Kafka Short Stories is a brilliant collection of Franz Kafka's influential writing and includes stories like, The Judgement, In the Penal Colony, A Hunger Artist, and so on.

A clutch of shocking, unsettling and complex tales that discuss the universal themes like unease, guilt, alienation, isolation, cruelty, shame, sin, redemption, etc., with generous doses of irony and horror. The characters in his stories are hunted and haunted, often in nightmarish situations, trapped in dehumanizing systems, struggling to find meaning and dignity in an insensitive world.

In spite of their dark themes, there is also subtle humour and a keen insight into the human condition. This is a book of all that is 'Kafkaesque'
