Numberblocks and Alphablocks are a series of educational children's books that have become increasingly popular in recent years. Both series were created by Joe Elliot and Blue Zoo Animation Studios in collaboration with the BBC.

Numberblocks is a series of books that teaches children about numbers and basic math concepts through colourful illustrations and engaging stories. The books feature a group of characters, each representing a different number, who go on adventures and solve problems together using their unique numerical abilities. For example, Numberblock Four can split into four smaller blocks, while Numberblock Eight can split into two fours.

The Numberblocks lift-the-flap books explore basic math concepts such as addition, subtraction, and counting. Each book features a different Numberblock character and includes fun activities that children can do to practice their math skills. For example, in the Number Four book, children can count the four kittens hiding behind the flaps, while in the Number Ten book, they can practice addition by counting the number of objects hidden under the flaps.

The books are designed to help children understand the relationships between numbers and how they can be manipulated. They introduce concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in a fun and interactive way. Each story is accompanied by vibrant illustrations that capture children's imaginations and keep them engaged throughout.

Alphablocks, on the other hand, focuses on teaching children about the alphabet and how to read. The books feature a group of 26 colourful characters, each representing a different letter of the alphabet. The characters go on adventures and spell out words together, helping children learn phonics and basic reading skills. The Alphablocks lift-the-flap books focus on teaching children about the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make. Each book features a different Alphablock character and includes fun activities that help children learn phonics and basic reading skills. For example, in the Letter A book, children can discover the different words that start with the letter A hiding behind the flaps, while in the Letter B book, they can practice identifying words that rhyme with bat.

The books use a combination of humour, music, and bright illustrations to engage children and make learning to read fun. The characters are designed to be memorable and easy to identify, making it easier for children to remember the letters and sounds they represent.

Both series of books are part of a larger multimedia franchise that includes television shows, apps, and other educational materials. They have been praised for their ability to make learning fun and accessible for children and have won numerous awards for their educational content and engaging storytelling.

In addition to teaching children basic math and reading skills, the books also promote important social and emotional skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and communication. The characters in the books work together to solve problems and overcome challenges, modelling positive behaviour for young readers. One of the great things about these lift-the-flap books is that they are designed to be interactive and encourage children to participate actively in the learning process. The books provide a fun and engaging way for children to practice their math and reading skills.

Another benefit of the lift-the-flap books is that they can be enjoyed independently by children or read together with a parent or caregiver. This makes them a great resource for parents who are looking for ways to engage their children in learning activities and promote early literacy and numeracy skills.

Overall, the lift-the-flap series of Numberblocks and Alphablocks books are an excellent educational resource for young children. They are well-designed, engaging, and interactive, making them a great tool for parents and educators looking to introduce young children to basic math and reading skills in a fun and engaging way.
