Since the beginning of time, civilisations and cultures have told stories of fairies in various different forms. Stories of fairies date back all the way to the 13th century—from Greek Mythology to European and English folklore; fairies have been a part of most civilisations and cultures. Except of course, each culture has seen fairies in their own unique light.

A fairy (also called faery, faerie, fay, fae) is perceived as a type of mythical being or legendary creature, a form of spirit, often described as metaphysical, supernatural or preternatural. The term ‘fairy’ encapsulates many members of the fae family, including goblins, gnomes, elves, and more. However, the one thing that is consistent about fairies across the globe; is that they are all part of amazing stories, tales and literary works.

In this collection therefore, we are shifting the spotlight to books with fairy characters and not just fairy tales. Whilst not all fairy tales are about fairies, they sure do make most fairy tales come alive. A sprinkle of fairy dust and magic fairy books—we believe, are all it takes to trigger a child’s imagination and draw them towards fiction literature early on. A great series filled with the magic of fairies is Daisy Meadow's Rainbow Magic series.

If the bestselling charts (children’s literature) are to be believed, the fairies seem to have quite the fan following with little children, especially girls. We at Books2Door have had our own share of love for the fairies. There was something so fascinating about being able to read a book and transport ourselves into a fantasy world and to believe in fairies and their magic. Not only was it fun to read fairy books but it was also fun to get our hands on the fairy merchandise, dolls and more.

We suggest you share this precious childhood memory with your child and introduce them to fairies and their magical world early on. Here are some children’s books to help your child blossom a friendship with the fairies…

Albert the unicorn doesn't like the dark, but the fairies light the way for him and help him feel better in this heart-warming story.
