View full detailsThe Winnie the Pooh collection of stories by A.A. Milne was published in 1926. Milne wrote the stories for his son Christopher whose toy animals were the footing for the characters. Christopher also became the main character that looked after the animals. Winnie the Pooh, sometimes referred as simply Pooh or Edward Bear is delightful, friendly, lovable who very much enjoys lots and lots of honey. Pooh lives in the woods modelled after Ashdown Forest in East Sussex, England. His family are Eeyore, a somber gray donkey, a gentle pig called Piglet, a dogmatising bird called Owl, Rabbit whose very meddlesome and Kanga the spirited and lively kangaroo and its baby Roo.
Pooh refers himself as “Bear of Very Little Brain” often gets himself into difficult dilemmas, the stories are written in a simple format and it appeals to young readers. The stories are often whimsical and have many silly versus yet Milnes works also contain deep insights into human behaviour and his characters are charming but convoluted. Pooh is naïve and slow witted yet thoughtful and steadfast, Pooh often comes up with clever ideas to resolve problems driven by common sense, these include saving Piglet from a flood by riding an umbrella and getting Eeyore out of the river by dropping a large rock on one side to wash him towards the bank. Winnie the Pooh stories will teach children and adults some foundational life lessons we may need to hear again but put into memorable scenes. The quote: “It means just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear, and not bothering.” teaches us to take time doing nothing and the necessity of taking a break for one’s physical and mental health. Our collection starts from ages 0-5 and a perfect bonding time between parents and children and babies.
