The nights are drawing in, the leaves are falling from the trees, and there’s a chill in the air. Autumn is the perfect season to stay inside with a book, and here at Books2Door we have a great selection for you to choose from. We have something for everybody, from quick reads, to books to get lost in.
So many books just scream Autumn. How about a chilly mystery from Elly Griffiths? Or perhaps a visit to Brambly Hedge? What better time than when the season is turning to climb The Faraway Tree? All these books and more are waiting for you in the colder weather.
Autumn is also a season filled with wonderful holidays and nostalgic traditions. We all know the new school year starts in September - for a break from altering uniforms and stationery shopping, check out our selection of great back-to-school books that fit great in backpacks.
October is Black History Month in the UK, which was established to spotlight and remember the history of the African diaspora. We love to highlight our diverse range of books for a multicultural world, and you can browse our collection celebrating BAME writers here.
Autumn also brings us Diwali, a festival of lights. For Hindus, Jains and Sikhs, as well as some Buddhists, it’s a celebration of good defeating evil, and light defeating darkness. It takes place over five days in the Hindu month of Kartika, which overlaps with October and November. We offer a range of Diwali books, including an amazing Rangoli colouring book.
On October 31st it’s Halloween, a time for ghosts, monsters and spooky occurrences. We have a wide selection of Samhain stories for sale, from the horrifying Darren Shan to exciting adventures with The Worst Witch. Look at our Halloween collection here, but don’t look under the bed!
November 11th is Remembrance Day, where we memorialise the sacrifice of members of the armed forces that have fallen in the line of duty. If you’d like to learn more about them, we have many books available about both World Wars, alongside other conflicts, which we’ve compiled in a collection here.
Our fantastic range has a little bit of something for everyone. Which books are going to define your Autumn? Let us know on social media.
