Easy reading this Easter

With a well-deserved break over the Easter holidays, there’s no better time to curl up with a good book and at Books2Door, we’ve got something for all ages and interests to enjoy. We know how unpredictable the British weather can be but the great thing about reading a new book or your all-time favourite, is that you or your family can cuddle up on the sofa indoors as well as  enjoy the great outdoors.

When it comes to choosing books, there’s plenty to consider. You might be reading for pleasure or knowledge. Our books are categorised in a number of different ways to make it easy for you to shop but in case you need a little inspiration, why not have a look at your favourite author or even a publisher that you recognise.

Check out our egg-citing Easter reading guide below, with top book picks to suit everyone.

 A collection of classics

Have you ever finished one book, and wanted to get straight onto the next one in the series? Then don’t get caught out this Easter. We’ve got some fantastic collections that will have you gripped from cover to cover all bank-holiday long. These affordable book sets can be a great way to build up your collection and are an egg-cellent Easter gift idea for young readers (along with some chocolate eggs of course!) Many of our collections are encased in a stunning box which means they’ll look impressive on any bookshelf too.

Starting children off with their very own collection is a positive and encouraging way for kids' books to remain part of their learning and development at home. If you’re not sure where to start, we recommend having a browse through our bestsellers and popular collection titles as there is plenty to choose from. As you browse, you’ll immediately recognise some household names and books that have been around for generations – classics that last the test of time. From Winnie The Pooh and Biff, Chip & Kipper for the younger ones to J.K. Rowling or Enid Blyton as they grow a little older. That’s not all. There’s plenty of Netflix titles for young adults who are confident, imaginative readers that want a mix of modern meets classic.

Age is nothing but a number

When it comes to reading, kids’ books can be introduced from the moment children are born. Bright beginnings start from reading aloud to your child, even if it’s just for a few minutes a day so make the most of your down-time this Easter and set some time aside to read. It could be during the day when a little quiet time is needed or as part of any child’s bedtime routine before bed.

Kids books aimed at children from age 0-5 years old encourage interaction, feelings and emotions often with the help of picture books which children will love. As babies start to grow, they’ll soon recognise books, enjoy parents' soothing voices and the colourful pictures that have been designed to get their attention from a very young age. Colourful illustrations continue in books for 5-7 year olds but also include more vocabulary choices, longer sentence structure and prompt children to use their imagination as their inquisitive minds grow. As their vocabulary really advances, finding kids books for ages 7-9 is a joy and you can really add some impressive titles to their collection. And finally for those transitioning to teen, there are plenty of plot-twisting novels to choose from. By this age, young readers will have their own interests and discover books that match their maturity. When it comes to reading, it really doesn’t matter what age your child is. Reading is a powerful way to stimulate a child’s development while providing a great way to bond this Easter.

Home learning booster session

Everyone deserves a break this Easter but while the family is together, there could be a little fun to be had with some non-fiction titles. It’s a great way to increase a child’s general knowledge or supplement their learning at school in a subject or topic focus.  Did you know that over the last year, it’s been reported that non-fiction books have seen record sales? This is due to the unexpected duration of home learning for children and parents. Our ‘Study At Home’ selection is a hand-picked range of books that will suit all ages for a gentle booster session of home learning this Easter.

Rather than making this a formal lesson, we recommend using interesting topics to make your own family quiz or create clues for a treasure hunt -making this much more fun and interactive for children. There might even be Easter eggs up for grabs as a reward! For the younger ones, these wipe-clean books are a great way to support the use of fine motor skills when it comes to writing practice and phonics books which parents can bring to life with fun sounds and accents that kids will really enjoy. For the older ones, there’s an entire range of non-fiction and topic-based titles to choose from such as encyclopaedias or even cookery books by the popular Joe Wicks.

Egg-xtra savings this Easter

For some real bargains, we’ve even got a clearance section with books from as little as £1 that are worth checking out. A great way to stock up and treat yourself or your child to something new. That’s not all! There’s free delivery on hundreds of books, to help you make the most of this Easter.
