Countdown to Christmas
There’s no use denying it - Christmas is just around the corner, and you need to stock up on excellent gifts for the loved one in your life. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be giving you some great ideas for stocking fillers and looking back over some of the year’s biggest books. Plus, we’re just seven days away from our Black Friday sale!
In this blog, though, we’re keeping it tuned to Christmas. We’ve got plenty of festive reads in stock, every one of them looking for a Christmas tree to sit under. So roast some chestnuts, call round the carollers, and put on your ugliest jumper - it’s time to get Christmassy.
Some of the coolest treats we’ve got in stock are our book advent calendars. Each day brings a new brilliant read, perfect for forming a book habit over December that they can sustain into the new year. It’s great to set up alongside a regular advent calendar, so your child gets a literary treat alongside their chocolate! We stock the Disney Storybook Collection, the Disney Princess Storybook Collection, the Marvel Storybook Collection, and The Christmas Elf’s Magical Bookshelf. But hurry - December 1 isn’t too far away!
For the youngest among us, you can’t go wrong with the Mr Men Christmas Collection. These fourteen festive tales featuring your favourite Mr Men and Little Miss characters are suitable for every child - they’d make excellent advent bedtime stories for the little ones. They come nestled in a collectable box so that you can keep Christmas on your shelf all year long. Of course, we also stock the Mr Men My Complete Collection and the Little Miss My Complete Collection - why not get all three for a wonderful Christmas treat?
It’s not the season of the soul in December without A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. That story and nine more evergreen tales are retold in The Charles Dickens Children’s Collection, part of the Easy Classics line from Sweet Cherry Publishing. These new versions are perfect for children aged seven and up and are great introductions to one of Britain’s best-loved authors. Whenever there’s some Dickens on offer, it feels like Christmas.
Another thing that’s just seven days away is the premiere of the new movie A Boy Called Christmas. Based on the bestselling book by Matt Haig, the story follows the origin of Father Christmas - his trip to the North Pole, how he meets the elves of Elfheim, and the dangers he encounters along the way. If you love the film or want to read the book first, we have A Boy Called Christmas 3 Book Collection, which features the original novel and its two sequels. Magic!
For fans of Emmerdale, we’ve got a real treat for you. Our Emmerdale 4 Books Collection follows the farm’s most famous families over World War I and II. It includes two books set during the coldest season: Christmas at Emmerdale, which follows Maggie Sugden’s efforts to keep Emmerdale Farm running at the outbreak of World War I; and Emmerdale at War, set during a particularly bitter winter amidst World War II. These pastoral family sagas will put a smile on your face and a tear in your eye and are a perfect accompaniment to a roaring fire and a mug of hot chocolate.
